Bank Street Summer Camp is the premier progressive day camp in Manhattan for children 4 to 16. We are co-ed, and located on 112th street on the Upper West Side. Our philosophy reflects that of the Bank Street School as a child-centered, nurturing community that emphasizes process rather than product. We pride ourselves on our ratio of campers to counselors, as it is this ratio that allows us to maintain our hands-on approach to learning.
Lower Camp
The Lower Camp consists of 11 groups for children 4-8 years old. Our two and five week programs take place within our air-conditioned classrooms, each equipped with both challenging and enriching materials for developing minds. Our programs are also designed to offer children an opportunity to explore the city and its vast resources, in a safe and relaxed setting. Each group swims three times a week, twice in the Barnard College pool and once at the scenic Lake Welch, where our waterfront staff instructs campers individually and in small groups. Each group is organized by appropriate swim levels and each counselor instructs with an emphasis on safety first. Lake Welch is located in Harriman State Park, 40 minutes north of Manhattan. Lower Camp programs are General Camp, Science and Spanish Immersion.
Upper Camp
The Upper Camp is uniquely designed to meet the needs of middle school children, ages 8-16. Campers choose from a variety of focused programs while also participating in some larger unit activities, like swimming twice a week and community focused field trips. During their semiweekly swim, time is divided between instruction and organized free swim where counselors work with the same campers each time. The Upper Camp groups are Art, Science, Sports, Spanish, Musical Theater, Shakespeare, Foodies, Film and Travel.
Session 1: June 18thth-29th For Lower Camp we offer childcare for the 18th and 19th.
Session 2: July 2nd-August 3rd
Session 3: August 6th-10th
Camp is from Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:00pm
Enrichment Classes: 3:00pm-4:30
After Care: 4:30pm-6:00pm

For more than ten years, Oasis in Central Park has provided children with a fantastic opportunity to play and learn in the great outdoors without ever leaving Manhattan. Located on the Upper West Side, Oasis utilizes Central Park’s incredible collection of recreational facilities including tennis and basketball courts, softball fields, soccer fields, nature trails, and an amazing Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool. A traditional day camp in every way, Oasis in Central Park’s program includes sports and recreation, visual and performing arts, recreational and Red Cross instructional swim, field trips, and an outdoor education component that includes environmental studies, orienteering and much more.
Oasis in Central Park utilizes the outdoor Lasker Pool for its American Red Cross swim program. Campers are swim tested on their first day of camp and experience an amazing instructional and recreational swim program during their stay with us! Oasis in Central Park utilizes many outdoor areas in the park between 92nd street and 100th street including softball fields, Lasker Pool and many open sunny and shady play areas. Oasis in Central Park also has access to basketball courts, classrooms, gymnasiums, and an auditorium across our three indoor spaces.
Oasis offers flexible enrollment options! Families have the advantage to enroll their children around their summer plans. A minimum of 2 consecutive weeks to start, up to a maximum of 8 weeks, or any combination thereof is all that we require to fully experience our program. The more weeks you sign up for, the more you save per week!
New for 2012! Our campers have the option to bring their lunch from home, packed in a soft non-disposable container or to sign up for our hot lunch service. Lunches will include a hot entree and side, fruit, bottled water and a dessert. Menus vary daily. Don't like something? No worries, families are able to choose substitutions for specific meals. If you are signed up for the lunch program a cold lunch will be provided on trips days– we've got you covered!
